Causes of cystitis in dogs:
1. Infection with pathogenic microorganisms, such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Proteus, etc.
2. Spread of inflammation in adjacent organs, such as nephritis, ureteritis, prostatitis, urethritis. Especially when a female dog suffers from vaginitis or endometritis, the inflammation can easily spread to the bladder and cause cystitis.
3. Mechanical injury, such as catheter injury, bladder stones, etc., can stimulate mucosal inflammation.
Symptoms of cystitis in dogs:
1. The symptom is painful urination. The sick dog urinates frequently, or makes a urination posture, but only a small amount of urine is discharged each time or it is continuously discharged in a dripping shape (urine dripping), and the performance is painful and restless.
2. In severe cases, due to the swelling of the bladder neck mucosa or the spasmodic contraction of the bladder sphincter, it can cause anuria, and the sick dog is painful and restless, moaning.
3. The symptoms of chronic cystitis in dogs are similar to those of acute cystitis, but the degree is milder and the course of disease is longer.
Treatment for cystitis in dogs:
1. Improve feeding management, make them rest properly, and feed them with non-irritating, nutritious and digestible feed. The feeding of high protein feed should be properly controlled.
2. Rinse the bladder with disinfectant or astringent medicine. First use a catheter to drain the accumulated urine in the bladder, rinse repeatedly with lukewarm saline, and then rinse with liquid medicine. It can be disinfected with 0.05% potassium permanganate solution and O.1% Revono ear solution. It can be astringent with 1%-3% boric acid solution, 1%-2% alum solution, etc.
3. For severe cystitis, after flushing the bladder, infuse 800,000 to 1.2 million units of penicillin (dissolved in 50 to 100 ml of distilled water) into the bladder, and apply penicillin, streptomycin or other antibiotics systemically.
4. Appropriate application of urinary tract disinfectant.
5. Pay attention to prevent microbial invasion and infection. Disinfection and asepsis should be achieved when performing catheterization. Diseases of other urinary organs should be treated in time to prevent spread.
