Symptoms of enteritis in dogs:

1. Diarrhea is the main symptom of enteritis in dogs, and it appears in the early stage of the disease. The feces are liquid-like and have a foul smell. In the later stage, they are often mixed with mucus, blood and foam.

2. Abdominal auscultation, you can hear increased intestinal peristalsis sounds, or hear thundering sounds, abdominal tension, and back bending.

3. When the inflammation spreads to the front part of the duodenum or the stomach, sick dogs often vomit.

4. When the sick dog has the symptoms of tenesmus (that is, the dog has discomfort in the lower abdomen and wants to defecate, but cannot express it quickly), it means that the inflammation has spread to the colon. When bleeding occurs in the small intestine, the stool is dark green or black.

5. The sick dog has mild or moderate fever. If infected with bacteria, the body temperature can be as high as 39-39.5 degrees Celsius.

6. With the development of the disease, the sick dog may have symptoms of dehydration and acidosis. At this time, the sick dog often lies on the ground, the skin lacks elasticity, sunken eyeballs, conjunctival cyanosis, high dehydration, decreased urine output, and severe cases may become comatose and die from autologous poisoning.

How to deal with enteritis in dogs:

1. First, fast the dog for 1-2 days. In order to prevent dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, the sick dog should be infused with Ringer's solution or lactic acid compound sodium chloride solution intravenously.

2. To clean the stomach and intestines, appropriate amount of laxatives (such as sodium sulfate, artificial salt) should be taken orally.

3. For anti-inflammatory and antidiarrheal, use 0.1-0.5 grams of berberine, orally 3 times a day. Antibiotics can choose aureomycin, oxytetracycline or chloramphenicol. For non-bacterial enteritis, when the feces have been basically eliminated and the feces have no sour smell, but the sick dogs who still have severe diarrhea should be given astringent drugs to stop diarrhea, such as activated carbon.

4. Hemostatic measures should be taken for those with bleeding symptoms, and intramuscular injection of hemostatic min can be used.

5. Antiemetic, metoclopramide, 1~2 mg/kg body weight, intramuscular injection, 2 times/day.
