Precautions for weaning puppies:

1. Generally, puppies can be completely weaned when they are around 2 months old. At this time, the puppies' teeth are basically grown, and owners can replace breastfeeding with puppy kibble for feeding. Puppies may not fully adapt to kibble at the beginning, so you can add some kibble to the powdered milk that the puppies drink to help them gradually accept kibble. Choose pet milk specifically for puppies, do not choose milk that may cause puppies to have diarrhea or dehydration.

2. The puppy's infancy is the time when their body grows. It is best to feed them with foods high in protein and calcium. Do not choose spicy or heavily flavored foods, and foods with high fat content such as beef and chicken should not be given to puppies. When choosing meat products, it is best to cook them, and do not feed raw meat to puppies.

3. Feeding puppies should be nutritionally balanced. Do not only choose one or two types of food that the puppies like to eat. A comprehensive selection of food should be made to avoid picky eating in puppies when they grow up.

4. Owners need to feed puppies at a fixed time and in a fixed amount every day. Do not give puppies too many snacks or replace their main meals with snacks, as this can easily lead to inadequate nutrition and severe picky eating in puppies when they grow up.

Methods for weaning puppies:

1. Gradually provide puppy food to the puppies. You can start providing puppy food when the puppies are about three weeks old. Do not completely wean them all at once. Initially, the amount of puppy food provided should account for about one-tenth of their daily calorie intake. The puppies will gradually wean off mother's milk as they adapt to eating puppy food.

2. In the next two to three weeks, gradually increase the amount of puppy food while reducing the puppies' milk consumption. If the puppies eat puppy food independently at a slow pace, do not forcibly accelerate the weaning process, as this can lead to malnutrition in the puppies. It is best to let them continue breastfeeding and slow down the weaning process.

3. When the puppies eat puppy food, separate them from the mother for an hour, two to three times a day. Take the mother to another area of the yard or house, and let the puppies stay with the puppy food. This is also simulating the weaning process in the wild.
