Clinical symptoms of hypoglycemia in dogs:
1. The affected dogs are physically weak, with intermittent neurological symptoms, muscle spasms, ataxia, and often lead to blindness.
2. In the early stage of the disease, puppies are mentally depressed, with unstable gait, facial muscle twitching, whole-body spasms, quickly entering a coma state, with blood sugar dropping to 30 mg per hundred milliliters.
3. Mother dogs experience muscle spasms, whole-body rigid or intermittent spasms, with a body temperature increase up to 41-42 degrees, increased breathing and heart rate, and positive ketone body test in urine.
4. Decreased blood sugar levels (below 50 mg%) and increased plasma insulin concentration, but in cases of hypoglycemia not caused by insulinoma, the insulin concentration is normal or low. In addition, the glucose tolerance test has high diagnostic significance for this disease.
