A runny nose in a dog is most likely due to a cold, but other causes are not ruled out. Dogs do get sick and catch a cold due to climate or other reasons, and then have symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose. Causes of runny nose in dogs:

1. Sick and cold. The dog has a cold and runny nose. In this case, the owner needs to guide the dog to drink more hot water, check the toxins in the body, and put more cloth or small quilts in the kennel. If the subsequent runny nose is not relieved, the owner will ask the dog to take cold medicine or take it directly to the pet hospital for treatment under the guidance of a veterinarian.

2. Suffering from rhinitis. If the dog's runny nose is a particularly thick mucous state, it means that the dog has rhinitis. Oral anti-inflammatory drugs, topical nasal washes and nasal antibacterial agents are usually required. After the treatment, a few drops of anti-inflammatory agents can be given to the dog's nose, which can promote the constriction of blood vessels and reduce sensitivity. If the symptoms of dog rhinitis are serious, it is recommended that the owner take it to the pet hospital for treatment in time.

3. Odor stimulation. A dog's sense of smell is 40 times more sensitive than ours. So sometimes it can also smell some slight pungent odors, and it is easily stimulated by foreign objects such as dust and hair in the environment, resulting in symptoms of sneezing and runny nose. Therefore, the owner should avoid bringing the dog close to some chemicals or using perfumes and insecticides with strong pungent smell, and not to feed the dog food with spicy or strong pungent smell.
