Dogs have red eyes

If the dog has a lot of eye droppings and red eyes, it can basically be judged as conjunctivitis. The owner can put an Elizabeth ring on the dog, and then use some anti-inflammatory eye drops, but some dogs may have conjunctivitis caused by a virus, and the owner needs to further check the dog for canine distemper virus.

Symptoms of conjunctivitis

1. Dogs have teary eyes and are sensitive to light.

2. Eyes are red, swollen, and painful.

3. A lot of sticky eye mucus will be secreted.

4. A small number of severe cases have obvious swelling, intensified pain, and yellow-white pus will flow out of the eyes.

Conjunctivitis Treatment

1. When acute conjunctivitis hyperemia is severe, wash eyes with 3% boric acid solution or 0.1% rivanol solution, apply cold compresses, and apply anti-inflammatory eye ointment, 4 times a day. When the pain is severe, 2% cocaine can be used in the eyes. For chronic conjunctivitis, hot compress can be used, and concentrated zinc sulfate or silver nitrate solution can be applied locally. If the nipple proliferates and forms follicles, it can be cauterized with crystalline copper sulfate.

2. For conjunctivitis complicated by canine distemper and canine infectious hepatitis, chloramphenicol ointment should be applied in the conjunctival sac on the basis of treating the primary disease, 1 to 3 times a day. Caused by mycoplasma and chlamydia, choose chloramphenicol eye drops, 2 to 3 times a day. Bacterial infection should be selected according to drug susceptibility test. For fungal conjunctivitis, use amphotericin B125μm, and inject subconjunctivally every other day for 2 weeks. This drug is toxic to conjunctival tissue and cannot be used for eye drops.

3. For conjunctivitis caused by physical and chemical factors, the cause should be removed first. If the corneal tissue is not damaged, 0.05% dexamethasone eye ointment can be applied in the conjunctival sac, 1 to 3 times a day; when acid or alkali invades, the eyes must be thoroughly washed for 5 to 10 minutes.

4. For conjunctivitis with allergic factors, remove allergens and apply thimerosal eye drops 5-6 times a day. Or eye drops of lead sulfate solution, 3 to 5 times a day. Use broad-spectrum antibiotics as appropriate.

5. For intractable suppurative conjunctivitis, 1% iodoform ointment should be used for coating, and procaine penicillin should be used to seal the fundus at the same time.
