Symptoms of gastritis in dogs
1. Diarrhea is the main symptom of canine gastritis, which can be seen at the beginning of the disease. The feces are liquid-like and have a foul smell. In the later stage, they are often mixed with mucus, blood and foam.
2. Abdominal auscultation, you can hear increased intestinal peristalsis sounds, or hear thundering sounds, abdominal tension, and back bending.
3. When the inflammation spreads to the anterior part of the duodenum or the stomach, sick dogs are often accompanied by vomiting.
4. When the sick dog has symptoms of tenesmus, it means that the inflammation has spread to the colon. When bleeding occurs in the small intestine, the stool is dark green or black.
5. The sick dog has mild or moderate fever. If infected with bacteria, the body temperature can be as high as 39-39.5 degrees Celsius.
6. With the development of the disease, the sick dog may have symptoms of dehydration and acidosis.
Treatment for gastritis in dogs
1. To clean up the stomach and intestines: appropriate amount of laxatives (such as sodium sulfate, artificial salt) should be taken orally.
2. Anti-inflammatory and antidiarrheal: take 0.1-0.5 grams of berberine orally 3 times a day. Antibiotics can choose aureomycin, oxytetracycline or chloramphenicol.
3. Food fasting therapy: stop food for 24 hours and water for 12 hours for sick dogs suffering from gastritis. Then feed with digestible liquid food, such as warm milk, porridge, vegetable soup, etc. Should pay attention to eat less frequent meals.
4. Toxic discharge: For toxic gastritis, inject 2-10 mg of morphine hydrochloride subcutaneously, or take 15-60 ml of castor oil orally to promote the discharge of toxic substances.
5. Antiemetic rehydration: For dogs with intractable vomiting, intramuscular injection of 1 mg chlorpromazine per kg body weight.
6. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory For gastritis with secondary infectious diseases, antibiotics are commonly used for anti-inflammatory, such as gentamicin, kanamycin, and penicillin.
