What to do about vaginitis in dogs

Solutions for dog vaginitis:

1. Rinse with 2% sodium bicarbonate solution, and then fully wash the vagina with 0.1% potassium permanganate solution. When the dog's vagina has severe edema, you can use 0.5%-1% alum solution, and use flavescens and gentian 15g each to decoct the dog's vagina to lavage. It should be noted that it is forbidden to wash the vagina when the vaginal wall is seriously damaged, and when there is less vaginal secretions, it is not necessary to wash.

2. For dogs with severe vaginitis, intramuscular injection of Oxypiperazine penicillin is recommended, twice a day, 1 gram each time. Muscle refraction of cefazolin sodium, 2 times a day, 0.5 grams each time.

3. Garlic has a certain effect on stubborn vaginitis. Use 1 ml of garlic juice, dilute it to 5 ml with warm water, and pour it into the vagina. It should be noted that the dog should be kept in a high-back and front-low position for more than half an hour. Once a day, use continuously for 6-10 days.

Causes of vaginitis in dogs:

1. The most common cause of vaginitis in dogs is trauma to the vulva during childbirth, or it may be that hands or machines were not fully disinfected during delivery, leading to bacterial infections in dogs.

2. The dog's vulvar mucosa is damaged during mating.

3. Before sexual maturity, some breeds of dogs are more prone to primary vaginitis than others, such as German Shepherds and Boxing Dogs.

4. Some adult dogs are infected during mating or childbirth because of the long estrus period.

Most of the reasons are that the dog's vulva was traumatized during childbirth, or the hands or machinery were not completely disinfected during delivery, resulting in dog bacterial infection. Dogs with uterine, bladder, urethra, or vestibular infections also have secondary vaginitis.
