Symptoms of Prostatitis in Dogs

Symptoms of dog prostatitis:

1. Acute prostatitis: body temperature rises, depression, loss of appetite. Walking is slow due to pain, gait is stiff. And have the performance of constipation and tenesmus. Palpation of the rectum and abdomen reveals hypertrophy and tenderness of the prostate gland, fluctuating sensation of prostate abscess, and failure to collect semen. In dogs with prostatic abscess, dysuria or anuria can be seen.

2. Chronic prostatitis: Chronic prostatitis in dogs rarely has obvious clinical symptoms. It is often the owner who comes to the doctor when the dog urinates for the first time in the morning, or finds blood or pus around its lying place. The rectum and abdomen are palpated, and the volume of the prostate gland can be felt to increase symmetrically or asymmetrically without pain. Depending on the length of the course of the disease, its texture ranges from hard to soft until there is a sense of fluctuation. X-ray photography and B-ultrasound examination showed enlarged prostate volume. In the case of prostatic abscess, B-ultrasound examination shows localized liquid dark areas. Leukocytosis in dogs in the acute phase. Bacterial cultures of exudate and semen can aid in the diagnosis.

Treatment of dog prostatitis:

1. Empty the urine in the bladder first, massage the prostate through the rectum, collect the prostate fluid for culture and do a drug sensitivity test to choose antibiotics, and at the same time cooperate with antipyretic and analgesic, laxative, catheterization and other methods for symptomatic treatment.

2. For prostate abscess, if the above methods are ineffective, surgical incision and drainage should be performed, and external fistula should be performed.
