Australian Cattle Dogs reach sexual maturity at 12 months. Estrus occurs twice a year, in February and August, with an average of three to five cubs per litter. The alertness, resourcefulness, guarding ability, courage, honesty and absolute devotion to duty of the Australian Cattle Dog make it an ideal working dog. His loyalty and protective ability are invaluable to the rancher, to the herd, and to the property. The Australian Cattle Dog has a smooth, double coat. The undercoat is short and dense, the outer coat is close together, all hairs are straight, hard, lying flat on the body and resistant to rain. Hair slightly longer from underbody to back of legs, with moderate hair from thighs to buttocks. The hair on the head (including inside the ears), front of the legs and feet is short, and the hair around the neck is long and thick.

How to feed the Australian Cattle Dog:

1. Take a shower. Give the Australian Cattle Dog a good bath to get rid of the old dander accumulated on the skin. You don’t need to be too active in bathing, basically once every two weeks in summer, and once a month in winter is almost enough. Be careful, too frequent bathing may damage the oily protective layer on the dog’s fur. When bathing, use lukewarm water, avoid eyes, and remember to blow dry your dog's damp hair at the end.

2. Special hair shampoo. If the general shampoo cannot effectively remove dandruff, it is necessary to choose a special anti-dandruff shampoo containing a variety of special ingredients. Do not bathe your dog with anti-dandruff shampoo for human use, so as not to cause greater irritation. When Australian Cattle Dogs have severe dandruff, it is best not to bathe them with shampoos containing lice-killing ingredients, as most of these products will make the skin drier.

3. Hair care spray. If the Australian Cattle Dog lives in a dry environment, it may also cause a lot of dandruff. You might as well go to the pet supply store to buy some oily hair sprays. After spraying on the hair, it can effectively prevent excessive evaporation of water on the dog's hair.

4. Emollient oil. Products commonly used to care for the skin of babies can also moisturize the Australian Cattle Dog's coat.

5. Combing. Regular brushing for the Australian Cattle Dog can brush away the old dander and dead hair that usually accumulates, and can also help the dog evenly distribute the natural oil secreted by the skin on every inch of the skin. Problems can be solved naturally.

6. Add fish oil. A cause of increased dander may also be that the Australian Cattle Dog is not eating enough oil in the food. So it's a good idea to add a moderate amount of pet-specific fish oil to the meal, which can help restore the skin's normal metabolic function. As long as you add half a spoon or a teaspoon of fish oil every day, you can obviously see the improvement effect.

7. Change dog food. Some poor-quality feeds cannot meet the nutritional needs of Australian Cattle Dogs, which can lead to poor hair health. Many dogs will naturally recover from the dander problem after switching to another more professional feed.
