Identify common diseases in Australian Cattle Dogs:

1. Deafness. Australian Cattle Dogs carry a recessive piebald allele that causes whitening of the coat and skin and is associated with congenital non-inherited deafness. Dogs carrying the piebald pigment gene may have polygenic causes deaf. In one study, approximately 2.4% of Australian Cattle Dogs were found to be deaf in both ears, and 14.5% of Australian Cattle Dogs were deaf in at least one ear.
