Treatment of anal adenitis in dogs

The treatment of dog anal adenitis:

1. If the dog’s anal gland is inflamed, first use iodophor to disinfect it, then press the dog’s anus with a napkin pad and try to squeeze it first. If there is thick flow out, continue to squeeze it. Apply erythromycin ointment anti-inflammatory ointment.

2. If the entire anus and its surroundings are severely raised, and it feels very hard, don’t squeeze it, and ask a doctor to deal with it, because it may be necessary to pump out the pus and inject medicine into it. If it is just redness and swelling, as long as the dirt in the gland is cleaned up in time, there is generally no problem.

3. If there is already a problem of suppuration and festering, first of all, the foreign matter in the anal gland should be squeezed out, and then the wound should be cleaned with hydrogen peroxide. Doing a good job of prevention can greatly reduce the probability of dog anal gland inflammation. It is a good preventive method to squeeze out the secretions in the anal glands while taking a bath.

Symptoms of anal adenitis in dogs:

Anal glands are sac-shaped glands located on either side of a dog's anus that secrete a light brown discharge that usually passes out with the dog's bowel movements. If the anal glands are inflamed, the anal glands will be blocked, causing secretions that cannot be discharged in time, and will accumulate around the anal glands, oppressing the anal glands and causing pain. Dogs with inflamed anal glands will lick vigorously around the anus. The reason why dogs suffer from anal adenitis is usually related to squatting and rubbing the anus after defecation. Bacteria and viruses are easy to take the opportunity to enter and cause anal adenitis.
