Causes of Enlarged Prostate in Dogs:

The enlargement of the prostate gland in dogs may be caused by inflammation stimulating the prostate gland, or it may be caused by cysts. If the dog is not sterilized after the age of 6, benign prostatic hyperplasia will also appear.

Diagnostic criteria for canine prostatic hypertrophy:

Abdominal palpation or digital rectal examination can make a preliminary diagnosis, and X-ray examination, that is, injection of contrast agent into the bladder and then taking a film, can confirm the diagnosis by showing abnormal size and shape of the prostate.

Canine Enlarged Prostate Treatment:

1. Empty the urine in the bladder first, massage the prostate through the rectum, collect the prostate fluid for culture and do a drug sensitivity test to choose antibiotics, and at the same time cooperate with antipyretic and analgesic, laxative, catheterization and other symptomatic treatment.

2. For prostate abscess, if the above methods are ineffective, surgical incision and drainage should be performed, and external fistula should be performed.

3. Clinical experience proves that sterilizing dogs can promote the recovery of prostatitis.
