Originating from Xiasi Town and its surrounding areas in Kaili City, Guizhou Province, China, the Xiasi Dog has a shiny and pure white coat. Aside from variations in fur due to geographical factors, its physical characteristics are consistent, making it a unique breed known locally as the Tiger Mustache Dog. It is agile and intelligent, possessing versatile hunting abilities and displaying loyalty and gentleness towards its owner. When pursuing prey, it is extremely fierce and powerful, which is why it is primarily used for hunting by the local people. In the early 1990s, local breeders concentrated on breeding and raising this breed in order to obtain greater economic benefits, resulting in the development of Xiasi Dogs with even more remarkable hunting capabilities.
The specific origin of the Xiasi dog is not accurately recorded. According to some information, it originates from the southeast of Mabian County, and is named after Xiasi Town due to its main distribution there. Most of the local residents are Miao people, and due to the living environment of deep mountains and dense forests, the local people have a long-standing hunting tradition. In order to meet the needs of hunting and capture prey more efficiently, the local people have conducted long-term breeding of the dog, gradually forming the current stable Xiasi dog with flexible wit, comprehensive hunting skills, fierceness, and strong explosive power.
It is said that in the 13th year of Jiaqing, Xiasi Town was defined as an important commercial hub by the government, and it was a prosperous market with many merchants, dense population and prosperous business. The wealthy households at that time liked to raise dogs to guard their houses, and the Xiasi dog was highly welcomed among the wealthy due to its innate hunting talent. In 1938, the Nationalist Army Communication School was moved to Mabian and the military authority was set up in the Yuhuangge of Xiasi Town, which further promoted the development of the Xiasi dog.
The Chinese Tacheng dog is not suitable for being raised in densely populated areas because of its fierceness and high combat power. Although it is loyal and obedient to its owner, it is highly vigilant towards strangers or other animals, and accidents of accidentally injuring neighbors or pedestrians often occur. The Chinese Tacheng dog is suitable for being raised in mountainous areas or areas with relatively low population density, where it can guard the courtyard. It can also be systematically trained and become a police dog.
1. Heart disease
Heart disease in dogs is often related to obesity and old age. When a dog has heart disease, it may show symptoms such as easy fatigue, difficulty breathing, and rapid breathing. Heart disease in dogs is difficult to detect, and often by the time the owner notices, the dog is already seriously ill.
2. Infectious diseases
Canine distemper and canine parvovirus are common and highly fatal infectious diseases in dogs. Dogs that have not been vaccinated in a timely manner are prone to these two infectious diseases, and once infected, they may show symptoms such as lethargy, decreased appetite, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea.
3. Kidney disease
Speaking of common diseases and symptoms in dogs, kidney disease cannot be overlooked. The terrifying aspect of canine kidney disease is that the onset often goes unnoticed, and by the time the owner realizes it, more than 75% of the dog's kidney cells may have been damaged. When a dog's kidneys have a problem, the symptoms usually include blood in the urine, abnormal urine color, and changes in urination habits.
4. Parasites
Intestinal parasites such as roundworms and hookworms, as well as heartworms, are common parasites that infect dogs. When a dog is infected with intestinal parasites, the main symptoms include emaciation, lethargy, diarrhea, visible worms in the feces, and pale gums. Heartworms, on the other hand, are parasites that reside in the dog's heart. After infection, the dog may experience decreased vitality, coughing, anemia, wheezing, and abdominal fluid accumulation.
5. Canine pneumonia
Pneumonia is also a common disease in dogs, but it often occurs as a complication of other diseases. It commonly occurs in dogs with abnormalities in the upper respiratory system, bacterial infections, canine distemper infection, viral cold, impaired lung function, and heartworm infection. Coughing, nasal congestion, and elevated body temperature are the main symptoms of canine pneumonia.
1. The Xiasi dog can eat dog food. Puppies should be fed about 5 times a day, with small meals and more frequent feedings. Adult dogs should be fed 2-3 times a day, ensuring that the daily intake meets the requirements.
2. Feeding milk powder and chicken bones to puppies is not allowed because chicken bones are too small and can scratch the dog's intestines and stomach.
3. Recommended diet combination: 313g lean meat, 474g cooked rice, 162g vegetables, 61g of vitamins and mineral additives. This is the daily intake.
1. Do not bathe frequently
When bathing a dog, it should not be done too frequently. The frequency of bathing a dog depends on the dog's hygiene condition. In hot weather, the dog can be bathed one or two more times, while in winter, it can be reduced by one or two times. However, the total should not exceed 5 times. Otherwise, it will damage its fur and skin!
2. Brush regularly
Dogs shed almost every day, especially during spring and autumn. Regular brushing is an important step in promoting good fur growth. Pet owners can use a pet-specific brush to help the dog remove naturally shed fur and prevent tangling. Brushing once in the morning and once in the evening for about five minutes each time is sufficient.
3. Sunbathe
Sunbathing is beneficial for the dog's fur growth. In addition to making the fur more shiny, letting the dog sunbathe can also help kill bacteria. While sunbathing, pet owners can let the dog exercise a little, which can help improve the dog's physical fitness and promote blood circulation, thus helping to grow healthier fur.
4. Deworming
Poor fur quality is often related to parasites. Parasites consume a large amount of nutrients from the dog's body, leading to a loss of nutrition. Therefore, deworming is necessary. It is recommended to deworm both internally and externally. Also, deworming medication can cause significant harm to the dog's stomach and intestines, so it is recommended to feed probiotics regularly to alleviate gastrointestinal discomfort.
5. Pay attention to diet
In order to have bright and beautiful fur, it is necessary to establish a good foundation of nutrition and pay attention to daily diet. On the one hand, feed the dog with nutritious and healthy dog food, choose a suitable and nutritious dog food that meets the dog's needs. On the other hand, the dog can be given lean meat, boiled egg yolks, and vegetable oil in moderation.
