Texas Goldback Tarantula (scientific name: Aphonopelmaanax), also known as the Texas Brown Bird-eating Spider, is originally from Texas, USA. It is a classic species among pet bird-eating spider enthusiasts in the United States. Being a native species of the United States, along with its docile personality, it is naturally an ideal species of bird-eating spider that can be kept as a pet. However, like the majority of species in the Aphonopelma genus, their growth cycle is truly a test of patience.
When the species in the Brachypelma genus, also from arid areas, with similar low aggression and docile temperament, became more popular, more pet bird-eating spider enthusiasts naturally chose the species with more vibrant colors, larger body size, and faster growth rates, such as the Mexican Red Knee and Mexican Fire Leg.
Adult Texas Goldback Tarantulas are 13-14 centimeters long, prefer temperatures of 28-30℃, and humidity of 65%. It is recommended to use moist peat, coconut brick, or clay as the substrate. It takes 6-8 years for them to grow from a juvenile to an adult, and their growth rate is truly remarkable. However, of course, they may also be one of the longest-living species among all pet bird-eating spiders.

1. Wasting Disease
When you find that the surface of the spider's body becomes dull and the skin becomes dry and yellow, it is likely that wasting disease has occurred. This condition is generally caused by poor feeding and long-term starvation leading to malnutrition. 2. Intestinal Inflammation
Contrary to wasting disease, this is the result of overeating. If the owner keeps feeding the spider or feeds it with food at a low temperature, it can cause bloating and abdominal pain in the spider, eventually resulting in intestinal inflammation. 3. Hemiplegia
Spiders do not require a high environmental temperature. However, when the temperature is too high, especially in summer where it is hot and humid, if the spider's cage is too far from the ventilation outlet, the spider may experience heat exhaustion, causing paralysis in its legs and making it unable to move, resulting in hemiplegia. 4. Constipation
The main reason for constipation is usually the lack of drinking water. In addition to food, spiders also need to drink water. If the owner only feeds the spider but does not provide water, the water content in the food cannot meet the spider's hydration needs. 5. Black Rot Disease
Refusing to eat or move, declining mental state, and the appearance of black ulcerative lesions on the abdomen are signs of spider black rot disease. The reason for this situation is that the water and food are not fresh. If the spider consumes food contaminated with bacteria, it may contract black rot disease, which can be fatal. 6. Mold Disease
Especially in the southern regions, in hot and humid weather, the spider's body surface is susceptible to bacterial invasion. The spider's joints become increasingly stiff, and its body becomes damp. Bacteria thrive in such an environment, leading to the formation of mold on the spider's body. 7. Parasites
Parasites are perhaps the most disgusting disease for spiders. If the parasites are small insects, it is not too bad. However, those aggressive parasites can wriggle on the spider's body, which is extremely disgusting. Besides interfering with the spider's rest, they may also carry other viruses, causing multiple infections and threatening the spider's life.
1、Temperature
The temperature is best controlled between 25~30, and the temperature difference between day and night should not be too large. Pay attention to cooling and heatstroke prevention in summer, and keep warm in winter to ensure the healthy life of the baby tarantula.
2、Humidity
The humidity should be kept at around 65. Too low humidity can easily cause dehydration in baby tarantulas, resulting in emaciation and death. If the humidity is too high, baby tarantulas are prone to suffering from edema and death. If the humidity is too high, baby tarantulas are prone to suffering from water edema and fungal infections.
3、Ventilation
A good ventilation environment can make baby tarantulas strong and reduce diseases, enabling them to safely molt. Air pollution, moisture, and stuffiness are the main causes of death in baby tarantulas.
4、Food
Feeding small animals such as yellow mealworms and small earthworms is the main way to feed spiders. Animal blood (without salt added) can also be fed. If conditions permit, artificial feed can be used. The formula can be: 50% egg yolk, 20% honey, 20% milk, 4% vitamin additives, and 3% nursing powder. After mixing, feed it on a plate or sponge.
5、Lighting
First of all, the lighting should be sufficient. Under the conditions, it can be taken outside to see the light. (Spiders do not like light, so there should be a place to avoid the sun to ensure the safety of the spider). The windows should be opened frequently in daily life, but avoid direct sunlight.
