Poecilotheriapedersenispider, also known as the Ghost Tree Spider, is a species that inhabits the rainforests of Sri Lanka and southern India.
Origin: Rainforests of Sri Lanka
Habitat: Tree-dwelling
Adult body length: 17-18 cm (foot span)
Optimal temperature: 25-27℃
Optimal humidity: 75%
Poecilotheria pederseni belongs to the most beautiful and interesting species in the bird spider family. They are all arboreal species and are only found in the tropical rainforest areas of Sri Lanka and southern India. Like other bird spiders from the old world, the rainforest species are very fast, aggressive, venomous, and covered with short hairs.
Poecilotheria pederseni is one of the newer species discovered in the Poecilotheria genus, named in 2001. At first glance, this species is not much different from the more common Indian ornamental species. Peter's ornamental, Salem ornamental, Sri Lankan ornamental, and Mysore ornamental all look very similar and can only be distinguished by careful comparison of patterns.
Peter Peterson's Gorgeous Rainforest Spider, scientifically named Poecilotheriapederseni, is also known as the Ghost Gorgeous Rainforest Spider. Although they are both tree-dwelling species, they are only found in the tropical rainforest regions of Sri Lanka and southern India.
Original habitat: Tropical rainforest in Sri Lanka
Habitat: Arboreal
Adult body length: 17-18 cm leg span

1, Emaciation
When you find that the spider's body becomes dull, the skin begins to dry and turn yellow, it is likely that emaciation has occurred. This condition is generally caused by the spider not eating well and long-term malnutrition.
2, Intestinal inflammation
In contrast to emaciation, this condition is caused by overeating. The owner keeps feeding the spider, or the food temperature is too low when feeding, which can cause bloating and abdominal pain in spiders, eventually leading to intestinal inflammation.
3, Hemiplegia
Spiders do not require a high environmental temperature, but when the temperature is too high, especially in summer, high temperature and humidity, and the spider's cage is too far from the ventilation opening, the spider will be in a state close to heatstroke, and the legs will be paralyzed due to nerve paralysis, resulting in hemiplegia.
4, Constipation
Constipation mostly occurs due to lack of water intake. In addition to food, spiders also need water. If the owner only feeds the spider but does not provide water, the water in the food cannot supply the water needed by the spider's body.
5, Black rot disease
Not eating or moving, mental decline, and the appearance of black ulcerative lesions in the abdomen. This is the manifestation of spider black rot disease. The reason for this situation is that water and food are not fresh. If the spider eats food contaminated with bacteria, it will contract black rot disease, which can lead to death.
6, Mold disease
Especially in the south, in the high temperature and high humidity weather of summer, the spider's body surface is easily invaded by bacteria. The spider's joints become stiffer, and its body becomes more humid, providing an ideal environment for the survival and reproduction of bacteria, resulting in the appearance of mold spots on the spider.
7, Parasite
Parasites can be said to be the most disgusting disease for spiders. If it is small insects, it is fine, but those aggressive parasites that crawl on the spider's body look very disgusting. In addition to affecting the spider's rest, they may also carry other viruses, causing multiple infections and threatening the life of the spider.
Feeding Tips
Due to the fact that Peter's Gorgeous Rainforest Spider is still relatively rare in the mainland market, the price is relatively higher. However, this spider is one of the popular rainforest species among foreign bird-eating spider enthusiasts.
Peter's Gorgeous Rainforest Spider is actually a highly dangerous pet bird-eating spider, and it is only recommended for experienced enthusiasts to attempt to raise them. The fast speed of young individuals makes them very easy to escape, while larger individuals may bite without warning, and their venom is relatively potent, so it is never recommended to handle these species.

Like many bird-eating spiders, Peter's Gorgeous Rainforest Spider can also be fed mainly on insects.
The reason why bird-eating spiders are called bird-eating spiders is because some people have seen them occasionally catching and eating small birds, but it does not mean that they primarily eat birds. Generally, they only eat insects, so when feeding Peter's Gorgeous Rainforest Spider, you can directly use mealworms, superworms, or crickets.
