Wirehaired Griffon Vendeen, originated in Czechoslovakia in the 19th century, is a very symmetrical medium-sized dog with a distinctive square-shaped head. It has a very solid and sturdy limb structure.

The original purpose of breeding the Wirehaired Griffon Vendeen was to make it able to work in any environment and terrain, and become an excellent walking hunting dog. Wirehaired Griffon Vendeen has very light and agile movements, similar to those of a cat. If it appears in the field, no other pointing dog can surpass it; if it appears in the water, it can surpass a retriever. Wirehaired Griffon Vendeen has a very coarse and rough coat, and curly or wooly coats are not allowed. Its undercoat is very thick and dense, and the uppercoat is very smooth, giving a messy and fluffy feeling. Training it is very simple, and it is very affectionate and friendly to the family. Everyone loves it very much, so it earned the title of "the best gun hunting dog" by its own abilities.
