Variety: Angora pet mink
Color: Pure black
Color feature description: Most fur is black or dark black, with white around the mouth and clear boundaries.
Angora minks are not only clean like cats, they like to curl up and sleep, and are smart and clever. At the same time, they are close to humans like dogs, they like to run around with their owners, especially they are curious about everything, not afraid or depressed, full of spirit of exploration, adding infinite fun to their owners' lives. Minks can accompany their owners for at least 15 to 20 years. Generally speaking, the longest lifespan of minks in a healthy state can reach 20 years. Young minks are naughty and lively, and they are active by nature. After the age of 5, they will start to become quiet. But even in their quiet state, they still like to play with their owners and seek more care from them. They will climb onto your lap when you watch TV, let you stroke their belly, and sleep heavily.
Angora mink is not considered a pet in Europe or the United States according to European laws. It was only after being purchased from a fur factory in Sweden by Soren in Denmark in 1997 that they began to be domesticated as pets. Due to genetic defects that cause biting, the domestication was unsuccessful. Therefore, minks cannot be kept as pets in Denmark and Europe. In 2006, Soren was forced to gas and kill 40 Angora minks, and then sold the majority of the remaining 650 minks, totaling 560, to China's Wuxi Coral Reef Pet Park Co., Ltd. at a price of 80 euros per mink.
Recommended for small pet lovers, the Andra mink is very clean. Spend some time training it when it just comes home, and it will go to a fixed place for the toilet. The hair of the Andra mink is short, so it doesn't shed much, and the house won't be full of flying fur like when raising long-haired pets. You don't have to worry about getting fur on your clothes when holding the Andra mink.
Common Diseases:
1. Heatstroke
When the ambient temperature is around 30 degrees, pet minks will become tired, and above 30 degrees, they are very likely to have heatstroke. High temperature will increase the possibility of heatstroke. To avoid this problem, you should always ensure a fresh water source, and their cage must be placed in a well-ventilated area. There should be no drafts, and try not to blow air conditioning at them. If the pet mink shows symptoms of heatstroke, such as difficulty breathing, red gums, protruding tongue, weakness, trembling, fatigue, or unconscious twitching, you should immediately place their cage in a shaded and well-ventilated place and put the mink in warm water (not cold water), and contact a veterinarian immediately. Remember to put a bottle of mineral water with ice inside the cage for them to drink.
2. Hairball Disease
Pet minks have some habits like cats, such as grooming, so they can also get hairball disease. Using the Marschel pet mink hairball paste can solve this problem. It can lubricate and dissolve the tangled hair and help them eliminate the hair in their stomach.
3. Intestinal Obstruction
Sometimes minks may swallow soft pet toys, shoe heels, erasers, chair cushions, headwear, or rubber bands and other rubber materials, which can cause this rapidly fatal problem. Therefore, you should place some small rubber products that are easily swallowed by pet minks out of their reach, and pay attention to their diet and biting behavior at all times to prevent it from happening.
4. Ear Parasites
If you find that your baby frequently shakes its head, scratches its ears, and screams, it is likely that ear parasites are causing trouble. These parasites can make the mink's ear canal very dirty and also make the pet mink suffer. Therefore, you should regularly clean the ear canal to reduce the possibility of parasite infestation. If there are really parasites in the ear canal, although it is not a serious problem, you should still take them to see a doctor.
5. Cold
Pet minks are more sensitive to cold bacteria. If someone in your home has a cold, please keep the pet mink away from that person. Wash your hands before and after touching the baby. If the mink continues to have loss of appetite and other adverse symptoms for 2-3 days, please take them to see a doctor.
6. Scratching
There are many reasons for scratching, and one of them is dry skin. You can give them a bath, but absolutely do not blow dry hot air at them. Sometimes you can also use a humidifier to increase the ambient temperature.
First, here are some precautions:
1. If your mink is younger than one year old and over four months old, you can feed it dry food. But be careful not to feed too much since they can't digest it well for now.
2. If your mink is under four months old, it can only eat main food. Don't feed it other things like nutritional paste, shedding cream, or snacks. Also, the main food should be soaked and fed (it is recommended to grind it into powder, add some water, and make it into a paste because if you soak the food directly, it is hard to soften and the nutrition will be lost when soaked with water).
3. Minks can only eat mink food, special snacks, nutritional paste, water, shedding cream, special fur care products, and probiotics.
Second, the taboos:
1. Absolutely do not feed any dairy products. No matter what, don't feed them. Minks can't digest it and they don't need it. Driniking it can cause vomiting and dehydration.
2. Absolutely do not feed fruits, vegetables, human snacks, etc. They cannot digest sugar and fiber.
3. Absolutely do not feed any salty items. Salt can make them weak and should not be fed.
4. Definitely eat less meat. Generally, minks already have enough nutrition from their daily food, so they don't need meat. Additionally, many functions have degenerated in pet minks.
Angora minks can eat mink food. It is best for the owner to give it a bath once a week, clean its ears once every two weeks, and promptly clean its excrement every day. To ensure the health of Angora minks, it is necessary to regularly take them to the doctor for parasite checks, inject vaccinations for canine distemper and rabies, and also pay attention to the prevention of heartworm disease. Angora minks are afraid of heat, so it is important to take precautions against heat stroke in the summer.
