The domestication of pet minks began more than two hundred years ago. Keeping pet minks has been popular in Europe and America for many years, with the number of mink owners in the United States exceeding 8 million. Currently, minks have become the third most popular pet in the world after dogs and cats. Pet minks have a small size and are easy to carry. They can be held in your arms or placed in a portable bag, fashionable and full of freshness. Moreover, they are easy to raise, with a sleep time of up to 18 hours per day, making them very suitable for feeding by busy urban people. The petite and clever pet minks have replaced other small pets and become the new fashion pet for young people.
It is recommended to keep Gulou Sengan Lu Di as a pet for people who love small pets. When Andrew Mink comes home, it loves cleanliness very much. Spend some time training it and it will go to a fixed place to use the toilet. The fur of Andrew Mink is short and it does not shed much, so the house will not be covered with fur like when raising long-haired pets. There is no need to worry about getting fur on clothes when holding Andrew Mink.
1. Eye diseases
The main symptoms of eye diseases include cloudy eyeballs, excessive secretions sticking to the eyelids, swollen eyelids, and pustules on the upper and lower eyelids.
Cloudy eyeballs occur in older minks, becoming cloudy due to aging, and eye trauma can also cause cloudy eyeballs. Eye drops can be used to treat minks with trauma, and it can generally be cured.
Excessive secretions sticking to the eyelids and swollen eyelids are usually caused by bacterial infections and can be easily treated with hydrocortisone eye drops.
Pustules on the eyelids are mostly caused by trauma. The treatment method is to make a small incision on the pustule, squeeze out the pus, sprinkle with anti-inflammatory powder, and receive antibiotic injections for 3-5 days to cure it.
Fever and canine distemper can also cause purulent eye discharge, which should be treated accordingly.
Entropion is a rare abnormal growth condition. The mink's eyelid skin is loose, and the eyelid edge is turned towards the eyeball, causing continuous stimulation to the eyeball, resulting in tears and mucus flowing out, and sticking the eyelids together. If this condition occurs before delivery, it will be resolved on site and generally will not affect customers.
Cataracts can also occur in older minks. The eyeballs appear white, and it is very obvious.
Feasible treatment: For simple cloudy eyeballs, tearing, and discharge, you can use a cotton swab dipped in saline to wipe the eyes and surrounding areas, and then instill eye drops 2-3 drops, 2-3 times a day.
2. Ear diseases
Mainly ear mites.
Infected minks have brown-black exudate crusts in their ear canals, and the diseased minks often scratch their ears with their paws or rub their ears on the cage walls. The treatment involves cleaning the external ear canal and then spraying pet anti-mite medicine.
Feasible treatment: After cleaning the ear canal, wipe the ear canal with a 2% boric acid solution or Bayer's Sebaan.
