Australian Mist is the first native breed of cat in Australia. Originally known as the Spotted Mist, they have subtle spots on their body, which take about a year to fully develop. The intricate stripes create a mist-like effect, making the Australian Mist's fur more symmetrical and soft.
Dr. Truda Stockdale launched a new program in New South Wales, Australia, to breed a domesticated pet that combines the physique and friendliness of the Burmese cat with the fine fur and temperament of the Abyssinian cat, displaying the spotted markings of a domestic cat and delaying the tendency for early heat. In January 1980, the first litter was born, consisting of cats with 1/2 Burmese bloodline, 1/4 Abyssinian bloodline, and 1/4 domestic cat bloodline, which is the Australian Mist.
Suggested for cat lovers.
One, Toxoplasmosis
Symptoms: Cats with toxoplasmosis may have a fever, depression, and their body temperature gradually decreases. They may also show weakness, dehydration, loss of appetite, vomiting, and start experiencing diarrhea.
Solution: Choose a good pet hospital for timely vaccinations and keep the house clean and hygienic. Proper isolation is also necessary. Rabies vaccine can be given starting at 3 months of age; the feline triple vaccine can generally be given starting at 2 months of age, with a dosage every month.
Two, Cat Flu
Symptoms: Fever, excessive nasal mucus production, frequent sneezing, and accompanying symptoms such as conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers. There may also be excessive tearing.
Solution: Once discovered, seek medical attention immediately. The virus can be spread through the air, so it is important to isolate the affected cat in a timely manner.
Three, Hairballs
Symptoms: Cats may experience vomiting, loss of appetite, and the presence of hairballs in their excrement.
Solution: Regularly feed the cat with hairball gel and it is best to grow some cat grass at home.
Four, Gastrointestinal discomfort
Symptoms: Vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite.
Solution: Fast the cat first, and then feed it some probiotics to regulate its stomach. If the situation is severe, seek medical attention immediately. Prevention: 1. Maintain a light diet; 2. Do not frequently change the cat's food. When changing cat food, follow the seven-day rule of transitioning the food.
Hygiene: Because cats have a lot of fur, they are prone to carrying various types of bacteria and fleas. For the health of the cats and their owners, it is necessary to bathe and groom them regularly;
Diet: Different cats have different food preferences. Owners should not randomly choose cat food from the market for convenience. They should carefully select cat food based on the cat's breed, growth situation, and physical condition, and also prepare dedicated utensils for the cats;
Health: Like humans, cats can also get sick. When a cat is sick, it must be taken to a specialized animal hospital for treatment. Regular physical examinations and vaccination injections should also be carried out. Only when the cat is in good health can it have the energy to play with its owner;
Safety: There is a saying that "curiosity killed the cat." Cats are restless and always have great curiosity about various things. Their nature also makes them especially fond of entering enclosed spaces. Therefore, owners must close doors, windows, and lids to prevent cats from getting into potential danger;
Living environment: Cats love to take naps, so as owners, they should prepare a small mat for them to sleep on. However, after long-term use, these mats can accumulate a lot of bacteria, so it is important to regularly clean and disinfect them;
Cat litter: The problem of pets defecating everywhere has troubled many pet owners. But cats are actually very clean animals, so as long as the owner prepares cat litter for them, they will go to the litter box to defecate on their own;
Cats cannot tolerate being forced by their owners to do things. Therefore, owners should always trim the cat's nails to prevent scratching and infection when playing with them.
Grooming Time: Recommended every three days
1. Relax the cat: Before grooming, you can give the cat a massage first. When the kitten purrs, you can proceed with the following tasks;
2. Comb along the hair: From the back→waist→hindquarters→tail; you can dampen the cat's hair with a small amount of water to reduce static electricity. Comb along the direction of hair growth, from top to bottom;
3. Comb from the chest to the abdomen: Pick up the cat, sit on your lap in a sitting position, and comb from top to bottom. The cat's belly is more sensitive, so when grooming, the cat owner must be quick and accurate.
4. Comb the cat's head and the area around the face: You can comb from the cat's head or face towards the neck, but be careful of the cat's eyes.
5. Underarm and abdominal hair: At this time, the cat can lie on its side, lift up its front paws, and comb from the armpits to the side of the abdomen.
6. Finally, use a comb to groom again, remove excess hair, straighten the cat's coat, and finish the whole process.
