1. Cat Ringworm
Ringworm is a common skin disease in cats, which is essentially a fungal infection.
Cause: Kittens with poor constitution are more prone to ringworm. Another type is caused by warm and humid living environment, leading to fungal infection.
Symptoms: The most common areas for ringworm to appear are the ears and chin. In the early stage, small areas of ringworm spots may appear, accompanied by hair loss, dry flakes on the surface, and in severe cases, skin ulcers and large areas of bald patches.
Solution: Isolate first - shave the fur (shave the fur near the ringworm to facilitate application of medication and prevent fungal spread) - oral medication (commonly used are itraconazole/fluconazole/griseofulvin) - topical ointment (ketoconazole cream/miconazole cream/tolnaftate cream/piriton spray, remember to follow the doctor's instructions before use) - medicated bath (ketoconazole lotion/miconazole lotion, maintain for 1-2 weeks until recovery) - increase nutrition (cats with ringworm infection often have some issues with immunity, so they need to increase nutrition, cook some chicken breast meat with carrots) - sunbathe more (sunbathing and maintaining ventilation can help kill the fungus).
2. Cat Flu
Cat flu is also a common disease, and young cats with weak constitution are more prone to it.
Cause: A bacterium strain called the feline herpesvirus enters the cat's respiratory tract. This virus attaches to the cat's trachea and begins to invade their respiratory system.
Symptoms: Fever, mucus around the nose, frequent sneezing, excessive discharge around the eyes, and severe cases may also have conjunctivitis.
Solution: When it is not too severe in the early stage, you can take lysine and use antiviral eye drops in conjunction. It is recommended to vaccinate young cats to reduce the chances of getting cat flu. The survival ability of feline herpesvirus is strong, so do a thorough disinfection of the house, using formaldehyde and phenol for disinfection.
3. Vomiting
Vomiting in cats is also common. Sometimes, cats will vomit to protect their bodies, and generally they will feel better after vomiting.
Cause: Inhaling too much hair, indigestion, eating foreign objects, rapid change of food, catching a cold, and gastroenteritis can all cause vomiting.
Symptoms: Vomiting with hair and mucus; or vomiting food, yellow water, and white foam, etc.
Solution: If the cat vomits hair, it is recommended to buy some hairball paste or cat grass for the cat to eat.
When the cat vomits, it is recommended to fast the cat for a day, give it some warm water to drink, and then feed it some pet probiotics to help regulate its microbial flora. If the cat's vomiting symptoms stop, you can feed it a small amount of softened kibble or canned food with more soup. If the vomiting does not improve, it is recommended to seek medical attention.
Health: Due to the fact that cats have a lot of fur, they can easily carry various bacteria and fleas. For the sake of the cat's and the owner's health, the cat should be regularly bathed and groomed;
Diet: Different cats have different food preferences. The owner should not randomly choose cat food from the market for convenience. They should carefully select cat food based on the cat's breed, growth condition, and physical condition, and also prepare dedicated utensils for the cat;
Health: Like humans, cats can also get sick. When a cat is sick, it must be taken to a specialized animal hospital for treatment. The cat should also receive regular check-ups and vaccinations. Only when the cat is in good health can it have the energy to play with its owner;
Safety: There is a saying "curiosity killed the cat." Cats are restless creatures and always have a great curiosity about various things. Their nature also causes them to particularly like entering enclosed spaces. Therefore, the owner must close doors, windows, and lids to prevent the cat from getting into potential danger;
Living environment: Cats love lounging around, so as an owner, you should prepare a small cushion for it to sleep on. However, after a long period of use, these cushions will have a lot of bacteria. Therefore, it is important to clean and disinfect them regularly;
Cat litter: The problem of pets defecating randomly troubles many pet owners. But cats are actually very clean animals, so as long as the owner provides cat litter, the cat will use it to defecate on its own;
Cats cannot tolerate being forced to do things. When the owner forces it to do something, it becomes annoying. Therefore, the owner should trim the cat's nails regularly to prevent scratching and infection during playtime.
Grooming time: it is recommended to groom every three days
1. Relax the cat: before grooming, you can first give the cat a massage. When the kitten starts purring, proceed with the following work;
2. Comb along the hair: from the back -> waist -> hips -> tail; when combing, you can use a small amount of water to wet the cat's hair, reduce static electricity, and comb from top to bottom along the direction of hair growth;
3. Comb from the chest to the abdomen: lift the cat, sit with a human posture on your lap, and comb from top to bottom. The cat's belly is sensitive, so the owner must be quick and accurate when grooming;
4. Comb the cat's head and the area around the face: you can comb from the cat's head or face towards the neck, but be careful of the cat's eyes;
5. Underarms and abdominal side hair: at this time, the cat can lie on its side, lift the cat's front paw, and comb from the armpit to the side of the abdomen;
6. Finally, use a comb to groom again, remove excess hair, and smooth the cat's fur to complete the entire process.-
