Peterbald, originated from Russia, is not completely hairless, but its fur is very fine and close to the skin. The skin has wrinkles, especially on the head. It has a semi-short body with short legs, large round eyes that are slightly slanted, mostly golden in color. The head is wedge-shaped, with large ears and a short, rounded nose.
At first, it was called the hairless Sphynx cat when it was bred, but after it was discovered that this cat is completely different from the Sphynx cat, its name was changed to DonHairless. In 1993, a very oriental-looking male brown mackerel tabby DonHairless was mated with a female Oriental Tortie (Oriental cat), and these oriental hairless cats are called Peterbalds. In 1998, Peterbalds came to the United States from Russia for the first time. Peterbalds are elegant cats of the hairless Oriental type, although they are not truly hairless.
Recommended for cat lovers.
1. Distemper
Symptoms: Cats with distemper may have a fever, depression, and gradually decreasing body temperature. They may also experience weakness, dehydration, loss of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Solution: Choose a good pet hospital to vaccinate your cat on time, keep your home clean, and isolate it properly. Rabies vaccine can be given starting at 3 months old; the cat's triple vaccine can generally be given starting at 2 months old, with a monthly interval.
2. Cat flu
Symptoms: Fever, excessive nasal discharge, frequent sneezing, accompanied by conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers, and excessive tear production.
Solution: Once detected, seek medical treatment promptly, as this virus is airborne. Please isolate your cat from other cats in a timely manner.
3. Hairball vomiting
Symptoms: Cats may experience vomiting, loss of appetite, and the presence of hairballs in their excrement.
Solution: Regularly feed your cat hairball jelly/gel, and it is best to plant some cat grass at home.
4. Gastrointestinal discomfort
Symptoms: Vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite.
Solution: First, refrain from feeding your cat, and then feed it probiotics for conditioning. If the condition is severe, seek medical treatment promptly. Prevention: 1. Maintain a light diet; 2. Do not frequently change cat food. When changing cat food, follow the seven-day food change method.
Hygiene: Due to the abundance of fur on cats, they are prone to carrying various bacteria and fleas. For the sake of the cat and the owner's health, the cat should be regularly bathed and groomed;
Diet: Different cats have different food preferences. Owners should not randomly choose cat food from the market for the sake of convenience. They should carefully select cat food based on the cat's breed, growth condition, and physical health, and also prepare dedicated utensils for the cat;
Health: Like humans, cats can also get sick. When a cat is sick, it should be taken to a specialized animal hospital for treatment. Regular physical examinations and vaccinations should also be carried out. Only when a cat is physically healthy can it have the energy to play with its owner;
Safety: There is a saying that "curiosity killed the cat." Cats are restless creatures and always have great curiosity about various things. Their nature also makes them like to enter enclosed spaces. Therefore, owners must close doors, windows, and lids to prevent cats from getting into potential danger;
Living environment: Cats love to lie down and sleep, so as an owner, you should prepare a small mat for it to sleep on. However, these mats can accumulate a lot of bacteria over time, so regular cleaning and disinfection is necessary;
Litter box: The problem of pets defecating anywhere has troubled many pet owners. But cats are actually very clean animals, so as long as the owner provides them with a litter box, they will go to the litter box by themselves for defecation;
Cats cannot tolerate being forced to do things by their owners. When the owner forces it to do something, it becomes annoying. Therefore, owners should trim the cat's nails regularly to prevent being scratched and infected while playing with it.
Grooming Time: Recommended once every three days
1. Relax the cat: Before grooming, you can give the cat a massage. When the kitten purrs, continue with the following steps;
2. Brush along the hair: From the back-> waist-> hips-> tail; You can use a small amount of water to dampen the cat's fur to reduce static electricity. Brush along the direction of hair growth, from top to bottom;
3. Brush from the chest to the abdomen: Lift the cat, sit on your lap in a human-like position, and brush from top to bottom. The cat's belly is sensitive, so be quick and accurate when grooming;
4. Brush the cat's head and around the face: You can brush from the cat's head or face towards the neck, but be careful around the cat's eyes;
5. Underarms and abdominal hair: At this time, the cat can lie on its side, lift its front legs, and brush from the armpits to the side of the abdomen;
6. Finally, use a comb to groom and remove excess hair, straighten the cat's fur, and finish the entire process.
