Egyptian Mau is a medium-sized short-haired cat with a moderate body and well-developed muscles. There is a scarab pattern between the eyebrows, and the leopard spots are randomly distributed on the fur throughout the body. It is the only natural leopard pattern cat breed in the world, without any artificial cultivation, naturally forming dot patterns, so it is also called "mini leopard".
Egyptian Mau is lively and agile, likes outdoor activities, can learn to avoid outdoor dangers, and likes warm places, sensitive to temperature. It likes to be close to responsible owners, but is not friendly to other cats, easy to attack, and does not like to interact with strangers, so it is not suitable for families with many visitors.
The history of the Egyptian Mau is very ancient, possibly the earliest domestic cat in history. Images similar in appearance to it could be found on the walls of ancient Egyptian temples along the Nile River more than 1400 years ago.
Recommended for cat lovers
1. Smallpox
Symptoms: Cats with smallpox may have fever and depression, with a gradual decrease in body temperature. Symptoms include weakness, dehydration, loss of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Solution: Choose a good pet hospital to vaccinate on time, keep the home clean, and isolate appropriately. Rabies vaccine can be administered starting at 3 months of age; the cat triple vaccine can generally be administered starting at 2 months of age, with a monthly interval.
2. Cat flu
Symptoms: Fever, excessive mucus in the nose, frequent sneezing, accompanied by conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, and excessive tearing.
Solution: Once discovered, seek medical attention in a timely manner. This virus is spread through the air, so it is important to isolate it from other cats as soon as possible.
3. Hairball vomiting
Symptoms: Cats experience vomiting, loss of appetite, and hairballs in their feces.
Solution: Regularly feed the cat hairball paste and preferably grow some cat grass at home.
4. Gastrointestinal discomfort
Symptoms: Vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite.
Solution: First, fast the cat, then feed some probiotics to regulate its condition. If the condition is severe, seek medical attention in a timely manner. Prevention: 1. Maintain a light diet; 2. Do not change cat food frequently, and follow the seven-day food change rule when changing cat food.
Hygiene: Due to the abundant fur on the cat's body, it is prone to carrying various bacteria and fleas. For the sake of the cat and the owner's health, the cat should be bathed regularly and its fur should be groomed;
Diet: Different cats have different food preferences. The owner should not randomly choose cat food available on the market for the sake of convenience. Cat food should be carefully selected based on the cat's breed, growth situation, and physical condition. Special utensils should also be prepared for the cat;
Health: Like humans, cats can also get sick. When a cat is sick, it must be taken to a specialized animal hospital for treatment. Regular physical examinations and vaccinations should also be given to the cat. Only when the cat is physically healthy, will it have the energy to play with its owner;
Safety: There is a saying that goes, "Curiosity killed the cat." Cats are restless creatures and are always curious about various things. Their nature also makes them like to enter enclosed spaces. Therefore, the owner must close doors, windows, and lids to prevent the cat from getting into potential dangers;
Living space: Cats love to lie down and nap the most. Therefore, as an owner, a small mat for the cat to sleep on should be prepared. However, after a long period of use, these mats will accumulate a lot of bacteria, so it is necessary to regularly clean and disinfect them;
Cat litter: The problem of pets soiling everywhere has troubled many pet owners. However, cats are actually very clean animals, so as long as the owner prepares cat litter for the cat, it will go to the litter box to relieve itself;
Cats cannot tolerate being forced to do things by their owners. When the owner forces it to do something, it becomes annoyed. Therefore, the owner should always trim the cat's nails to prevent being scratched and infected when playing with it.
Grooming time: recommended once every three days
1. Relax the cat: before grooming, you can give the cat a massage. When the kitten starts to purr, proceed with the following steps;
2. Comb along the hair: from the back → waist → hips → tail; you can wet the cat's fur with a small amount of water to reduce static electricity, and comb it down along the direction of hair growth;
3. Comb from the chest to the abdomen: pick up the cat, sit with a human pose on your lap, and comb it down. The cat's belly is more sensitive, so when grooming, be quick and accurate.
4. Comb the head and the area around the face of the cat: you can comb from the cat's head or face towards the neck, but be careful with the cat's eyes;
5. Underarms and the side of the abdomen: at this time, the cat can lie on its side, lift up its front paws, and comb from the armpits to the side of the abdomen;
6. Finally, use a comb to groom again, remove excess hair, and tidy the cat's fur to complete the entire process.
