Sauder cat, also known as Chartreux cat, has a large and sturdy body, slightly fat. The weight of an adult cat can reach 7kg. Its shoulders and chest are wide and thick, with developed muscles. The four limbs are thick and powerful, and the gait is elegant. Males have a stronger sense of strength than females. The fur is elastic and blue-gray in color, with silver tips and dense, thick, and soft hair that is waterproof. It belongs to the short-haired breed with slightly longer fur. The head is slightly large and irregularly quadrilateral, with a pair of round and bulging cheeks. The nose is straight and the ears are high, with protruding upper and lower jaws. The eyes are golden or orange, round, large, and bright, forming a beautiful contrast with the blue fur.
This breed was publicly displayed at the cat club in Paris in 1931. The first breed standard was announced in 1939. In the 1960s and 1970s, this breed was so frequently crossed with the blue British Shorthair cat that FIFe merged these two breeds by 1970. Does it mean that the CHARTREUX breed is destined to disappear? The fact is not so. SIMONNET, the president of the CHARTREUX Cat Club, provided strong evidence to FIFe, proving the authority of this breed, which prompted FIFe to make the decision to separate these two breeds and prohibit further crossing. The first CHARTREUX cat entered the United States in 1970. Both CFA and TICA recognize this breed.

2. Cat ringworm
Cat ringworm is a common skin disease in cats, simply put, it is a fungal infection.
Cause: Kittens with poor physique are more prone to ringworm. Another type is caused by a warm and humid living environment, which leads to fungal infections.
Symptoms: The typical locations of ringworm are the ears and chin. In the early stage, small patches of ringworm may appear, with hair loss and dry flakes on the surface. Severe cases may result in skin ulceration and large bald patches.
Solution: Isolate first - shave off the fur (shave the hair near the ringworm to facilitate the application of medicine and prevent the spread of fungus) - oral medication (commonly used medications include itraconazole/fluconazole/griseofulvin) - topical ointment (ketoconazole cream/miconazole cream/tolnaftate cream/petamycin spray, remember to follow the doctor's advice before use) - medicated bath (ketokonazole solution/miconazole solution, maintain for 1-2 weeks until recovery) - increase nutrition (cats infected with ringworm often have some problems with their resistance, so they need to increase their nutrition, cook a little chicken breast + carrots) - get more sunlight (sunlight and ventilation can help kill bacteria).
3. Cat flu
Cat flu is also one of the common diseases, and weak kittens are more prone to it.
Cause: A strain of bacteria called feline herpesvirus enters the cat's respiratory tract, attaches to the trachea, and begins to invade their respiratory system.
Symptoms: Fever, mucus around the nose, frequent sneezing, excessive eye discharge, and severe cases may also have conjunctivitis.
Solution: In the early stage, when the symptoms are not too severe, you can take lysine and use antiviral eye drops. It is recommended to vaccinate young kittens, which can reduce the chances of getting cat flu. The virus that causes cat flu has strong survival ability, so it is necessary to do a thorough disinfection and cleaning of the entire house, using formaldehyde and phenol for disinfection.
4. Vomiting
Vomiting is also common in cats. Sometimes, cats will vomit to protect themselves, and they will generally feel better after vomiting.
Cause: Inhaling too much fur, indigestion, ingesting foreign objects, changing food too quickly, catching a cold, and gastroenteritis can all cause vomiting.
Symptoms: Vomit with fur and mucus; or vomit food, vomit yellow water and white foam, etc.
Solution: If the cat vomits fur, it is recommended to buy some hairball paste or cat grass for the cat to eat.
When a cat vomits, it is recommended to let the cat fast for a day, give it some warm water to drink, and then feed it some pet probiotics to regulate its intestinal flora. If the cat's vomiting symptoms stop, you can feed it a small amount of softened dry cat food or canned food with more soup and easily digestible food. If the vomiting does not improve, it is recommended to seek medical attention.
Hygiene: Cats have a lot of fur, so they are prone to carrying various bacteria and fleas. For the sake of the cat's and owner's health, the cat should be bathed regularly and its fur should be groomed;
Diet: Different cats have different food preferences. Owners should not randomly choose cat food from the market for convenience. Cat food should be carefully selected based on the cat's breed, growth, and physical condition. Special utensils should also be prepared for the cat;
Health: Like humans, cats can get sick. When a cat is sick, it should be taken to a specialized animal hospital for treatment. Regular physical examinations and vaccinations should also be conducted for the cat. Only when the cat is healthy can it have the energy to play with its owner;
Safety: There is a saying "curiosity killed the cat." Cats are curious creatures and always have a great curiosity about various things. Their nature also makes them fond of entering enclosed spaces. Therefore, owners must close doors, windows, and box lids to prevent cats from getting into potential danger;
Living space: Cats love to sleep and lounge around. Therefore, as an owner, you should prepare a sleeping cushion for it. However, after prolonged use, these cushions can accumulate a lot of bacteria. So, it is important to clean and disinfect them regularly;
Cat litter: The problem of pets urinating and defecating everywhere has troubled many pet owners. But cats are actually very clean animals. As long as the owner prepares cat litter for them, cats will go to the litter on their own to relieve themselves;
Cats are sensitive creatures. When owners force them to do something, they become annoyed. Therefore, owners should regularly trim the cat's nails to prevent scratches and infections during playtime.
Grooming time: recommended once every three days
1. Relax the cat: before brushing, you can give the cat a massage service, and wait until the kitten purrs before proceeding to the next step;
2. Brush along the hair: from the back → waist → hips → tail; when brushing, you can use a small amount of water to wet the cat's hair, reduce static electricity generation, and brush along the direction of hair growth, from top to bottom;
3. Brush from the chest to the abdomen: lift the cat, sit on your lap in a human-like posture, and brush from top to bottom. The cat's belly is more sensitive, so when grooming, the caregiver must be quick and accurate.
4. Brush the cat's head and face area: you can brush from the cat's head or face towards the neck, be careful with the cat's eyes.
5. Underarm and abdominal side hair: at this time, the cat can lie on its side, lift the cat's front paw, and brush from the armpit to the side of the abdomen.
6. Finally, use a comb to brush again, remove excess hair, and tidy up the cat's fur, completing the entire process.
