Chinese Name: LaPerm Cat, Dallas Cat, Naban Cat, Farrah Cat English Name: LaPerm, cats are very individual and lively. Fur color: the fur is somewhat curled, with big ears, and the appearance is very cute.
Some kittens of LaPerm Cats are born hairless, but most are born with short wavy or straight hair. Kittens often go bald. This process usually starts two weeks after the kitten is born, but within four months, they may go through different stages of baldness. If the kitten is born with curly fur, it can also change later on. The changes in fur span the entire lifespan of LaPerm Cats, and they may have a sparse coat after shedding, neutering, or spaying. LaPerm Cats are gentle and affectionate, but also very active. Like many active breeds, LaPerm Cats are quite an active group. LaPerm Cats often listen to your leadership, for example, if they are fighting each other and you decide to sit down and relax, just pick up your LaPerm Cat and sit down, it will stay on your lap. LaPerm Cats seek human contact and purr to make you aware of their presence. They have a curious nature and always want to know what's going on around them. They will touch your face with their paws and rub their face against your head, neck, and face.
Originating from Oregon, USA, LaPerm cats are a breed of domestic cats. In 1982, cat owners Linda and Richard discovered a kitten in a litter that was different from the others. Over time, this cat's fur became soft and curly, with big ears, making it look very cute. Surprisingly, the offspring of this cat also had the same characteristics. Linda and Richard named this breed LaPerm Cat.
Suggested for cat lovers to raise.
1. Cat Ringworm
Cat ringworm is a common skin disease in cats, which is simply a fungal infection.
Cause: Kittens with poor physique are more prone to ringworm. Another cause is fungal infection due to warm and humid living environment.
Symptoms: The most common areas where ringworm is more likely to appear are ears and chin. In the early stage, small patches of scurf appear, hair loss, dry scales on the surface, and severe cases may result in skin ulcers, large bald spots, and so on.
Solution: Isolation first - shaving (shave the hair around the ringworm, one is to facilitate the application of medicine, and the other is to prevent the spread of fungi) - oral medication (commonly used are isoconazole/fluconazole/gray-yellow erythromycin) - topical ointment (ketoconazole ointment/miconazole ointment/tioconazole ointment/petifin spray, remember to follow the doctor's instructions before use) - medicated bath (ketoconazole lotion/miconazole lotion, last for 1-2 weeks until recovery) - increase nutrition (cats infected with ringworm, mostly have some problems with their resistance, need to increase nutrition, cook some chicken breast meat + carrots) - sunbathe more (sunbathe to maintain ventilation, can help kill bacteria)
2. Cat Flu
Cat flu is also one of the common diseases, and weak kittens are more prone to the disease.
Cause: A strain of bacteria called herpes virus invades the respiratory tract of cats, attaches to their trachea, and begins to damage their respiratory system.
Symptoms: Fever, mucus around the nose, frequent sneezing, abundant secretion around the eyes, and severe cases may also have conjunctivitis.
Solution: In the early stage when it is not too serious, you can take lysine with antiviral eye drops. It is recommended to vaccinate kittens, so that the chance of getting cat flu is reduced. The virus that causes cat flu has strong survival ability, so it is necessary to do whole-house disinfection and cleaning. Formaldehyde and phenol can be used for disinfection.
3. Vomiting
Vomiting is also common in cats. Sometimes, cats will vomit their vomit as part of their self-protection mechanism, and usually feel better after vomiting.
Cause: Ingesting too much fur, indigestion, eating foreign objects, changing food too quickly, catching a cold, or having gastritis can cause vomiting.
Symptoms: There is fur and mucus in the vomit; or vomiting of food, yellow water and white foam, and so on.
Solution: If the cat vomits fur, it is recommended to buy some hairball ointment or cat grass for the cat to eat.
When the cat vomits, it is recommended to fast it for a day, give it some warm water to drink, and then feed it some pet probiotics to regulate its flora. If the cat's vomiting symptoms stop, you can feed it a small amount of softened cat food or canned food with more soup or other easily digestible food. If the vomiting does not improve, it is recommended to seek medical attention.
Health: Because cats have more hair, they are prone to carrying various bacteria and fleas. In order to ensure the health of the cats and the owners, cats should be bathed and groomed regularly;
Diet: Different cats have different preferences for food. Owners should not randomly choose cat food on the market for convenience. They should carefully select cat food based on the type, growth, and physical condition of the cats, and prepare dedicated utensils for them;
Health: Like humans, cats can also get sick. When a cat is sick, it should be taken to a specialized animal hospital for treatment. Regular physical examinations and vaccinations should also be conducted. Only when a cat is healthy can it have the energy to play with its owner;
Safety: There is a saying "Curiosity killed the cat." Cats are always curious about various things and are inclined to enter enclosed spaces. Therefore, owners must close doors, windows, and lids to prevent cats from getting into potential dangers;
Residence: Cats love to lie down and take lazy naps the most. Therefore, as an owner, you should prepare a small sleeping mat for them. However, these mats will accumulate a lot of bacteria after being used for a long time, so you must pay attention to cleaning and disinfection at any time;
Cat litter: The problem of pets' peeing and pooping everywhere often troubles many pet owners. However, cats are actually very clean animals. As long as owners provide them with cat litter, cats will go to the cat litter to pee and poop by themselves;
Cats cannot tolerate being bullied. When owners force them to do something, they can become annoying. Therefore, owners should trim their cats' claws regularly to prevent scratches and infections when playing with them.
Grooming Time: Recommended once every three days
1. Relax the cat: Before grooming, you can give the cat a massage. When the kitten starts to purr, proceed with the following steps;
2. Brush along the fur: From the back → waist → buttocks → tail; when brushing, you can dampen the cat's fur with a small amount of water to reduce static electricity. Brush along the direction of hair growth, from top to bottom;
3. Brush from the chest to the abdomen: Lift the cat, sit on your lap in a human position, and brush from top to bottom. The cat's belly is more sensitive, so the owner must be quick and accurate when grooming;
4. Brush around the cat's head and face: You can brush from the cat's head or face towards the neck, but be careful with the cat's eyes;
5. Underarm and abdominal hair: At this time, the cat can lie on its side, lift up the cat's front paws, and brush from the armpit to the side of the abdomen;
6. Finally, use a comb to groom again, remove excess hair, and straighten the cat's fur, completing the entire grooming process.
