The Soviet Red, whose accurate name is Lai Zhou Red, has the characteristics of "six reds" in its coat color. Its original habitat is in Zhuqiao, Lai Zhou, so it used to be called "Lai Zhou Red" or "Zhuqiao Red". However, in recent years, Chinese dog breeding experts have conducted research on its breeding origin through field visits and investigations, and decided to give it a more scientific and standardized species name in order to better maintain and develop this breed. Its scientific name is Chinese Mountain Red Dog.
The breeding process of this dog has been carried out by breeders in Zhuqiao Town, Lai Zhou for several decades. It is mainly bred by hybridization of Great Dane, German Shepherd with a level back, Korean Tosa, Shandong Indigenous Dog, Japanese Wolf Blue Dog and local dogs. It also has genes from Mastiff and Wolf breeds. This breed has developed well in Lai Zhou, Longkou, Yantai and even throughout the country.
It is intelligent, clever, gentle, and loyal to its owner. It has agile and fast movements, a strong and powerful body, and a strong learning ability. It is easy to train and has a strong adaptability.
The history of Lai Zhou Red can be traced back to the 1970s, when a well-known dog called "Big Black" was popular among the local people. It had huge upright ears, a big head, and a square mouth. Its weight even reached an astonishing 130 kilograms. It is the ancestor of Lai Zhou Red dog. After continuous breeding, the Lai Zhou Red dog was finally produced. In the 1990s, Lai Zhou Red dogs received widespread attention, and dog traders from all over the country came en masse. At that time, its price was skyrocketing. Some unscrupulous dog traders tried to elevate its status and inflate the market price by misleading and stealing the concept, claiming that it was a foreign excellent dog breed called "Soviet Red", and thus making huge profits.
Later, with the reform and opening up of the country, foreign dog breeds like German Shepherds started to dominate the Chinese market. Lai Zhou Red dogs gradually fell out of favor in the market and their status continued to decline. They even became meat dogs on chopping boards and are now on the verge of extinction.
Soviet Red is very enthusiastic and loyal to its owner, and has rich emotions. This dog has a larger body shape and requires a large amount of activity every day. It does not like to be alone or locked up. If left alone for a long time, it may become depressed, so it is not suitable for crowded city life. This dog is more suitable for guarding factories and residential courtyards and is an excellent guard dog.
1. Heart disease
Dogs often suffer from heart disease due to obesity and old age. When a dog has heart disease, it will mainly show symptoms such as fatigue, difficulty breathing, and rapid breathing. Heart disease in dogs is difficult to detect, and often by the time the owner realizes it, the dog's condition has deteriorated.
2. Infectious diseases
Canine distemper and canine parvovirus are common and highly fatal infectious diseases in dogs. Dogs that have not been vaccinated in a timely manner are prone to these two types of infectious diseases. Once infected, the dog may appear lethargic, have decreased appetite, high body temperature, and exhibit symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea.
3. Kidney disease
When it comes to common diseases and symptoms in dogs, kidney disease must be mentioned. The frightening aspect of kidney disease in dogs is that the onset is often unnoticed, and by the time the owner discovers it, the dog's kidney cells have been damaged by more than 75%. When a dog's kidneys have problems, the typical symptoms are blood in urine, abnormal urine color, and changes in urination habits.
4. Parasites
Intestinal parasites such as roundworms and hookworms, as well as heartworms, are common parasites that infect dogs. When a dog is infected with intestinal parasites, the main symptoms include emaciation, lethargy, diarrhea, presence of worms in the feces, and pale gums. Heartworms are parasites that live in the dog's heart, and infected dogs may exhibit symptoms such as decreased vitality, coughing, anemia, wheezing, and ascites.
5. Canine pneumonia
Pneumonia is also a common disease in dogs, but it is often a complication of other diseases. It frequently occurs in dogs with abnormalities in the upper respiratory tract, bacterial infections, canine distemper infection, viral flu, impaired lung function, and heartworm infection. Coughing, nasal congestion, and high body temperature are the main symptoms of pneumonia in dogs.

At the age of 3 months, they still have 3 meals a day, and can have a little meat and a small amount of vegetables. 1. Do not bathe frequently
When bathing a dog, it should not be done too frequently. The frequency of bathing depends on the dog's hygiene condition. In hot weather, it can be bathed one or two more times, and in winter, it can be reduced by one or two times, but overall, it should not exceed 5 times. Otherwise, it will damage its fur and skin!
2. Brush regularly
Dogs shed hair almost every day, especially during spring and autumn seasons when they shed more. To ensure good hair growth, regular brushing is an important step. Pet owners can use pet-specific brushes to help the dog remove naturally shed hair and prevent tangling. Brushing once in the morning and once in the evening for about five minutes each time is sufficient.
3. Sunbathe
Sunbathing is beneficial for the growth of a dog's fur. In addition to making the fur shinier, letting the dog sunbathe can also help kill bacteria. While sunbathing, pet owners can let their dogs exercise, which can improve their physical fitness, promote blood circulation, and help grow healthier fur.
4. Deworm
Poor hair condition is closely related to parasites. Parasites absorb a large amount of nutrients from the dog's body, robbing them of essential nutrition. Therefore, deworming is essential. It is recommended to deworm internally and externally at the same time. Also, deworming medications can cause significant damage to a dog's gastrointestinal system, so it is advisable to feed probiotics regularly to alleviate any gastrointestinal discomfort.
5. Pay attention to diet
To ensure that the dog has a beautiful coat, it is necessary to establish a good nutritional foundation and pay attention to daily diet. On the one hand, feed the dog with nutritious and healthy dog food, choose a brand that is suitable for the dog and provides sufficient nutrition to meet the dog's needs. On the other hand, give the dog appropriate amounts of lean meat, cooked egg yolks, and vegetable oil.
