Pitbull Terrier, originally from the United States, also known as the American Pitbull Terrier. The original name, American Pitbull Terrier, means "American fighting pit bull terrier". It is a breed that was bred and cultivated for the purpose of dog fighting, with powerful and aggressive characteristics.
Pitbull Terriers easily provoke trouble, are courageous and fierce, and never give up. They have endurance to continuously release for 120 minutes and a bite force of 80 kilograms per square centimeter. Due to the faster secretion of testicular hormones during fights, the high concentration of testicular hormones makes them not afraid of pain, allowing them to engage in prolonged battles. When the hormone level drops, they also experience pain.
Pitbull Terriers have graceful curves, healthy physique, strong will, extremely intelligent minds, and absolute reliance and trust in their owners. However, they are aggressive towards other animals and unfriendly towards strangers, so they must be strictly trained from an early age by experienced owners.
Pitbull Terrier, originated in the 19th century, was mainly bred from the American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Bulldog.
In 1835, the British Parliament declared bullfighting to be an illegal activity and banned it. However, breeders of bull terriers still appreciated the brave and tenacious spirit of the breed, so they started breeding the bull terriers for dog fighting. Initially, they crossed the bull terriers with some more intense animals to develop them in the direction they desired. The resulting hybrid breed at that time had fierce and ruthless characteristics, with an exceptional ability to endure pain, remarkable courage, and a refusal to give up until the last second. This hybrid breed arrived in America around 1800, having previously lived on farms in the southwest of England. Their role at that time was to guard and protect the boundaries of the farms.
In 1898, the American Kennel Club officially named this hybrid breed "American Pitbull". The Buster Brown Shoe Company used a small Pitbull named "Tige" as a mascot on every shoe produced, symbolizing the durability and resilience of their products. RCA Radio also used an illustration of a small Pitbull named Nipper, who could hear his owner's voice clearly, to convey that their radio had high-definition sound. By 1914, it was also used to symbolize that America was neutral and fearless, as well as representing the toughness of Levi jeans and the defense of traditional honor.
Pitbull Terrier is a breed of powerful and aggressive dogs bred and cultivated for the purpose of dog fighting. They are prone to causing trouble, brave and fierce, and will fight to the death. In many cities in China, Pitbull Terriers are at the top of the list of banned dogs, and it is not suitable to keep such breeds in residential areas.
This breed requires a large amount of exercise and has a strong and aggressive personality, making it unsuitable for urban living and even less suitable as a pet for families.
If you want to keep one, it is suitable for more secluded environments such as private villas. It must be strictly trained by an experienced owner from an early age, and special attention should be paid to muzzle the dog when taking it outdoors.
1. Heart disease
Dog heart disease is often associated with obesity and old age. When dogs have heart disease, they mainly show symptoms of fatigue and shortness of breath. Dog heart disease is difficult to detect and by the time the owner notices it, the dog is already seriously ill.
2. Infectious diseases
Canine distemper and canine parvovirus are common deadly infectious diseases in dogs. Dogs that are not vaccinated in a timely manner are very susceptible to these two infectious diseases. Once they get sick, they will show symptoms such as lethargy, loss of appetite, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea.
3. Kidney disease
When it comes to common diseases and symptoms in dogs, kidney disease must be mentioned. The terrifying thing about dog kidney disease is the unconscious process of the disease. By the time the owner discovers it, more than 75% of the dog's kidney cells are usually damaged. When dogs have problems, the symptoms are usually blood in the urine, abnormal urine color, and changes in urination habits.
4. Parasites
Gastrointestinal parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, and heartworms are common parasites in dogs. When dogs are infected with gastrointestinal parasites, the main symptoms are emaciation, lethargy, diarrhea, worm feces, and pale gums. Heartworms are parasites that live in the dog's heart. After dogs are infected, they will show symptoms such as poor vitality, coughing, anemia, asthma, and ascites.
5. Canine pneumonia
Pneumonia is also a common disease in dogs, but it is a complication of other diseases. It often occurs in dogs with abnormal upper respiratory system, bacterial infection, canine distemper infection, viral flu, impaired lung function, and heartworm infection. Coughing, nasal congestion, and fever are the main symptoms of canine pneumonia.
The Pitbull Terrier is fierce and requires a considerable amount of exercise. To prevent it from going out and causing harm or fighting with other dogs,
a large enclosed yard with a sturdy fence should be prepared for it, where it can get ample exercise every day. The top of the doghouse must be covered with materials such as wire mesh, wooden boards, or metal to prevent the dog from escaping from the top. It is best not to use black materials for the doghouse, as it can cause heatstroke in the dog due to excessive heat absorption in the summer. The bucket-shaped bed for resting in the doghouse should be securely fixed, and the dog's neck should not have the opportunity to get entangled in the iron chain. Check the kennel daily and adjust any improper places at any time.
When feeding, it should be given 350-400 grams of meat and an equal amount of dry ingredients such as oatmeal every day. The amount of food provided must be appropriate. Feeding too little will cause insufficient food intake and poor growth, resulting in a loss of a healthy and lively appearance. Feeding too much will lead to excessive energy intake, causing weight gain and affecting health and appearance. At the same time, provide clean drinking water 1-2 times a day.
It must be trained strictly by an experienced owner from a young age, and special attention should be paid to using a muzzle when taking it outdoors.
1. Cannot bathe frequently
When bathing a dog, it is of course not recommended to do it too frequently. The frequency of bathing should depend on the dog's hygiene condition. In hot weather, you can bathe the dog one or two more times, while in winter you can reduce it by one or two times. But overall, it should not exceed 5 times. Otherwise, it may damage its fur and skin!
2. Regular brushing
Dogs shed hair almost every day, especially during the spring and autumn seasons when it is more severe. Regular brushing is an important step for the hair to grow well. Pet owners can use pet-specific brushes to help the dog remove naturally shed hair and prevent tangling. Brushing once in the morning and once in the evening for about five minutes each time is enough.
3. Sunbathing
Sunbathing is beneficial for the growth of a dog's fur. Besides making the fur more shiny, letting the dog sunbathe can also help sterilize. While sunbathing, pet owners can let the dog exercise a little, which can help improve its physical fitness, promote blood circulation, and help grow healthier fur.
4. Deworming
Poor fur condition is actually closely related to parasites. Parasites absorb a large amount of nutrients from the dog's body, depriving it of nutrition, so deworming is necessary. It is recommended to perform internal and external deworming together. Also, deworming medication has a great impact on the dog's gastrointestinal system, so it is advisable to feed probiotics regularly to relieve gastrointestinal discomfort.
5. Pay attention to diet
In order for a dog to have a shiny coat, it must have a good nutritional foundation and pay attention to its daily diet. On the one hand, feed the dog with nutritious and healthy dog food, choose a brand that is suitable for the dog and provides sufficient nutrition to meet the dog's needs. On the other hand, you can also feed the dog with lean meat, cooked egg yolks, and vegetable oil in moderation.
