The Xiquan, also known as the Chinese Xiquan, was once called the rabbit hunting dog. It is divided into three types: Shandong Xiquan, Shaanxi Xiquan, and Mongolian Xiquan. It is one of the ancient hunting dog breeds in China. Shandong Xiquan is further divided into long-haired and short-haired varieties. The long-haired variety is also called Fanzhi, mainly distributed in Shandong Province, including the Licheng and Liangshan counties of Jining. The short-haired variety is also called Huatiao, mainly distributed in Shandong Province, including Licheng County. However, the previous Huatiao variety is basically extinct, and now the Huatiao breed often has Mongolian Xiquan bloodlines. Around 2000, many foreign hunting dog breeds entered China, leading to the gradual neglect of the ancient Chinese hunting dog Xiquan, and now its number is decreasing.
The Xiquan is intelligent, agile, loyal to its owner, and cautious towards strangers. It excels as a hunting dog and is especially adept at running. It is said to have a running speed of up to 60 kilometers per hour.
The Greyhound originated in Shandong Liaocheng, Liangshan (long-haired variety), and Jining, Shandong (short-haired variety), and is a very ancient hunting dog breed in China. At first, their main job was chasing and hunting wild rabbits. However, as hunting activities decreased, they were no longer valued. Their outstanding hunting abilities led to a decline in their numbers due to the importation of foreign dog breeds such as the Whippet and the Greyhound in the year 2000, to the point of nearly becoming extinct.
The ability of the Greyhound is contrary to its slender appearance. It has strong explosive power and high adaptability, making it also suitable for city living. Due to the nature of a hunting dog, it requires a large amount of exercise. In addition, its tall stature requires enough space for it to move and live. It is not suitable for Greyhounds to be kept by office workers or the elderly who cannot accompany them in exercising.
1. Heart disease
Dog heart disease is often related to obesity and old age. When a dog has heart disease, it mainly manifests as fatigue and shortness of breath. It is difficult to detect heart disease in dogs, and by the time the owner notices it, the dog is already seriously ill.
2. Infectious diseases
Canine distemper and canine parvovirus are common fatal infectious diseases in dogs. Dogs that are not vaccinated in a timely manner are susceptible to these two infectious diseases. Once they are infected, they will exhibit symptoms such as listlessness, loss of appetite, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea.
3. Kidney disease
When it comes to common diseases and symptoms in dogs, kidney disease cannot be ignored. The terrifying thing about dog kidney disease is the unconscious process of the disease. By the time the owner discovers it, more than 75% of the dog's kidney cells have already been damaged. When dogs have problems, the symptoms usually include blood in urine, abnormal urine color, and changes in urination habits.
4. Parasites
Intestinal parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, and heartworms are common parasites in dogs. When a dog is infected with gastrointestinal parasites, the main symptoms include emaciation, listlessness, diarrhea, visible worms in the feces, and pale gums. Heartworm is a parasite that lives in the dog's heart. After a dog is infected, it will exhibit symptoms such as low vitality, coughing, anemia, asthma, and ascites.
5. Canine pneumonia
Pneumonia is also a common disease in dogs, but canine pneumonia is a complication of other diseases. It often occurs in dogs with abnormalities in the upper respiratory tract, bacterial infections, canine distemper infections, viral colds, impaired lung function, and heartworm infections. Coughing, nasal congestion, and fever are the main symptoms of canine pneumonia.
1. Puppies have weak resistance and immunity before the first three vaccinations, making them susceptible to illness and death. They need special care and should avoid going out as much as possible.
2. Puppies should not drink milk. It is recommended to choose a high-quality sheep milk powder for feeding. Pay special attention to the reasonable combination of nutrition, as their growth and development are at the fastest rate during this period.
3. Feeding should be done at regular intervals and in appropriate amounts. Cultivate good habits and avoid feeding them human food, as it can harm their digestive system.
4. It is best for puppies to eat small meals frequently. Each feeding should be about 70-80% full, which can help prevent them from developing picky eating habits.
1, Can't bathe frequently.
When bathing a dog, of course, it cannot be too frequent. The frequency of bathing depends on the dog's hygiene conditions. In hot weather, you can bathe the dog one or two more times, while in winter you can reduce it by one or two times. But in general, it should not exceed 5 times. Otherwise, it will damage its fur and skin!
2, Brushing frequently.
Dogs shed hair almost every day, especially in spring and autumn. Seasonal shedding is more severe. To promote good hair growth, frequent brushing is an important step. Pet owners can use special pet brushes to help dogs remove naturally shedding hair and avoid tangling. Brushing once in the morning and once in the evening for about five minutes each time is enough.
3, Sunbathing.
Sunbathing is beneficial for the growth of a dog's fur. In addition to making the fur more shiny, letting the dog sunbathe can also help kill bacteria. At the same time, pet owners can let the dog exercise, which can help improve the dog's physical fitness, promote blood circulation, and help grow healthier hair.
4, Deworming.
Poor hair quality is actually closely related to parasites. Parasites will absorb a large amount of nutrients from the dog's body, robbing them of nutrition, so deworming is essential. It is recommended to do both internal and external deworming. Moreover, deworming drugs can cause great harm to the dog's stomach and intestines, so it is recommended to feed probiotics regularly to ease gastrointestinal discomfort.
5, Pay attention to diet.
If you want your dog to have shiny fur, you must establish a good nutritional foundation and pay attention to daily diet. On one hand, feed the dog nutritious and healthy dog food, choose a brand that is suitable for dogs and provides sufficient nutrition to meet the dog's needs. On the other hand, you can also feed the dog with lean meat, cooked egg yolk, and vegetable oil in moderate amounts.
