Rottweiler, also known as Rottweiler, Loewina, Rottweil, Rottweiler, English name: rottweiler, is an animal in the Canis Canidae family. It has an extremely strong body, fearless and agile, and looks powerful and majestic. It is one of the most courageous dog breeds in the world.
This dog used to be used to guard cattle and is a very intelligent, strong and friendly breed. Nowadays, it is mainly used as a police dog and is highly praised. Of course, it can also become a highly valued family dog.
The Rottweiler is born with guard talents. In the Middle Ages, wealthy merchants would hang their money bags around the necks of Rottweilers to avoid theft.
As an outstanding police dog, the Rottweiler can attack intruders. In order to make it obedient, the keeper must undergo strict training.
It has a medium size but is energetic, calm, confident, and brave. Its confidence and aloofness make it seem inaccessible and not casually friendly to people. But in fact, it is intelligent, strong, and very easy to approach. It has a family-oriented nature, is very smart and strong, has strong adaptability, loves its work, and is a good companion dog, guard dog, and versatile breed.
According to records, after the retreat of the Roman army, they did not take away the large mastiffs they brought with them, but left them in southern Europe, where they continued to breed among the locals and were used to hunt wild boars, thereby gaining great fame. It wasn't until the Middle Ages that breeders in Germany crossbred them with indigenous sheepdogs and bred the Rottweiler.
This dog is very strong and brave, full of power. At that time, wealthy merchants would hang their money bags directly around the necks of Rottweilers to prevent their money from being stolen.
Today, Rottweiler breeders specialize in using this dog to guard livestock or for security, so it is also known as the "Rottweiler butcher dog".
In the early 19th century, German law prohibited the traditional method of herding cattle and livestock began to be transported by railway, so the reputation and demand for Rottweilers declined significantly. It wasn't until 1900 that the efforts of Rottweiler enthusiasts helped restore the breed's reputation, and in 1930, the breed was introduced to England and the United States.
If you want to raise a Rottweiler as a guard dog, you must undergo professional training. It has strong muscles and infinite energy, which makes it brave and incredibly powerful. A well-developed Rottweiler can easily knock down an adult, so strict discipline is necessary to prevent accidents such as accidental injuries.
Therefore, it is not suitable for elderly people, individuals with weak physical condition, or families with young children.
1. Heart disease
Dogs often get heart disease due to obesity and old age. When a dog has heart disease, it mainly manifests as easily tired, difficulty breathing, and other symptoms. It is difficult to detect heart disease in dogs, and often the owner realizes it when the dog is already critically ill.
2. Infectious diseases
Canine distemper and canine parvovirus are common and highly fatal infectious diseases in dogs. Dogs that have not been vaccinated in a timely manner are prone to these two infectious diseases. Once infected, symptoms such as lethargy, decreased appetite, increased body temperature, vomiting, and diarrhea can be observed.
3. Kidney disease
When it comes to common diseases and symptoms in dogs, kidney disease has to be mentioned. The terrifying thing about kidney disease in dogs is that the onset is unnoticed. When the owner discovers it, the dog's renal cell damage has often exceeded 75%. When a dog's kidney has problems, the general symptoms are blood in the urine, abnormal urine color, and changes in urination habits.
4. Parasites
Roundworms, hookworms, and heartworms are common parasites that infect dogs. When a dog is infected with gastrointestinal parasites, the main symptoms are emaciation, listlessness, diarrhea, worms in the stool, pale gums, and mucous membranes. Heartworms are parasites that live in the dog's heart. After a dog is infected, symptoms such as decreased vitality, coughing, anemia, panting, and ascites can occur.
5. Canine pneumonia
Pneumonia is also a common disease in dogs, but it is mostly a complication of other diseases. It commonly occurs in dogs with abnormal upper respiratory tract system, bacterial infection, canine distemper infection, viral influenza, impaired lung function, and heartworm infection. Coughing, nasal congestion, and elevated body temperature are the main symptoms of canine pneumonia.
Foods suitable for Rottweilers
Vegetables: cabbage, spinach, carrots, potatoes, seaweed. These vegetables should not contain salt, otherwise it will be harmful to the dog's body. Vegetables can provide essential nutrients for the body, but they must be chopped or crushed before feeding, otherwise it will be difficult for Rottweilers to digest and absorb the nutrients. You can also feed them with some fruits and grains. Grains have a higher fiber content, so they must be fully cooked to facilitate chewing and digestion.
Meat: pork (avoid high-fat parts), beef (preferably 3-6 cooked or raw), chicken (relatively mild), internal organs (Rottweilers love to eat them, but avoid eating internal organs of 3 fowl, or eat too much. Eating once a week should be stopped for a period of time, after all, 3 fowl contains too much retinol). Eggs are the best nutritional product for young Rottweilers, Rottweilers who have just recovered from illness, and breastfeeding Rottweilers, especially egg yolks, which are the best and easily absorbed for small Rottweilers. If you feed them crucian carp, only feed them fish meat. Fish is helpful for lactating female dogs to supplement protein and milk, etc., but be sure to remove the fish bones, otherwise it may choke the dog.
Bones: pig bones are the easiest for Rottweilers to absorb, they can supplement calcium and are good for the intestines and stomach. However, the fat content is too high, and the best parts are vertebrae and fan bones. The fat content of beef bones is low, but they are too hard. It is recommended to feed Rottweilers with vertebral bones or rib cartilage. Thigh bones can be given for Rottweilers to gnaw, which can help the development of their teeth and facial muscles.
Soup: beef, pork, fish, chicken, etc. are particularly good for dogs. Rottweilers also love to drink soup. They are especially good for young Rottweilers or lactating mother Rottweilers (especially crucian carp soup, which can increase milk production). However, remember not to add any seasonings. Milk or formula needs to be diluted, with a water ratio of 30-80%. It is better to dilute more for puppies and gradually adapt. Do not rush, otherwise it may cause harm or be fatal. Chocolate and onions (these two are deadly foods), followed by cold foods, and foods with sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy tastes, etc.
1. Do not bathe frequently
Bathing the dog, of course, should not be too frequent. Bathing the dog depends on the dog's hygiene situation. In hot weather, you can bathe the dog more often, but in winter, you can reduce it. But in general, it should not exceed 5 times. Otherwise, it will damage its fur and skin!
2. Brush regularly
Dogs shed almost every day, especially in spring and autumn. Seasonal shedding is more severe. To make the fur grow well, regular brushing is an important step. Pet owners can use pet-specific brushes to help the dog clean off naturally shedding fur and avoid tangling. Brushing once in the morning and once in the evening for about five minutes each time is sufficient.
3. Sunbathe
Sunbathing is beneficial for the growth of the dog's fur. Besides making the fur more lustrous, letting the dog sunbathe can also help to sterilize. While sunbathing, pet owners can let the dog exercise a bit, which can help improve the dog's physical fitness, promote blood circulation, and help grow healthier fur.
4. Deworming
Poor fur quality is actually closely related to parasites. Parasites absorb a large amount of nutrients from the dog's body and compete for nutrients. Therefore, deworming is essential. It is recommended to do internal and external deworming at the same time. Deworming medicine can cause great harm to the dog's stomach, so it is recommended to feed probiotics regularly to relieve gastrointestinal discomfort.
5. Pay attention to diet
In order for the dog to have a beautiful coat, it must have a good nutritional foundation and pay attention to daily diet. On the one hand, feed the dog with nutritious and healthy dog food, choose a dog food that is suitable for the dog and has sufficient nutrition to meet the dog's needs. On the other hand, you can also feed the dog with a moderate amount of lean meat, cooked egg yolks, and vegetable oil.
